There are many free stat counters around just do a google search.

You could try this one HERE once you have signed up (it`s free) you will then go though the process of making your own counter at the end it will give you a code just copy and paste it to the forum footer found in the Control Panel. more on the Control Panel HERE

You add it to the header of your site as well, if you wish it to be on all pages then you have to add it to overall_header.tpl or if you wish it to be just on the main page then add it to your index_body.tpl

Of course you would have to have made your own template to do this if you need help doing that just goto to the main page and then look for admin panel edit/template
