Admin Panel - Forum Admin - Permissions


OK one of the most asked questions is how to stop guest posting.

In this area is how you set up the Room Permissions.

When you first enter this area you will see the scroll down box use it to find the room you want then click Look up Forum


OK now you will see the Simple Mode page click on the Advance Mode link


Now you should see a page like this





You can set each bit to how you wish.

All= everyone
Reg= only members
Private=Only members that you have given access too
Mod=Moderators (you will have to set the premissions in user admin to assign mods to each area)
Admin=Admin


OK so what do all the boxes mean

View=To be able to see the room exist
Read=To be able to enter the room
Post= To be able to post a new topic
Reply= To be able to reply to a topic
Edit=To be able to let them Edit their own post only
Delete= To let them Delete their own post only
Sticky= To let them create a post as a Sticky
Announce= To let them make an Announcement
Vote= To be able to vote on a poll
Poll create= To be able to create a poll.


Here are some examples

Open to all everything would be set to ALL

Private area Everything set to private
(You will have to allow each member you wish to access this point, permission to do so you do this by going to User Admin - Permissions
Then enter their name and then by going on advance mod you can allow them access.)

Staff only Everything set to Mod

Members only Everything set to reg

IT is always a very good idea to leave alot of the board open for guest to read this will encourage them to join for this set everything to reg apart form View and read leave these as ALL this means they can see and read but not post

Now if you want an area that only register members can see and post in just set the view to Reg this means guest can not even see the area exists
